Since 1929, the Junior League of San Diego has welcomed thousands of women into a community built on service, leadership, and impact.

We are committed to fostering an inclusive, supportive experience for every prospective member. Our team is here to guide you through the process, share our legacy of service, and find your purpose, place, and people within the League.

Whether you are new to San Diego, transferring from another League, returning to membership, or ready to join for the first time, we cannot wait to meet you!

The Junior League is a Highly Respected Organization with an Extraordinary Legacy. Our league, Junior League of San Diego (JLSD), is very proud of that historic reputation, but as society changes, we adapt and evolve. We strive to put our venerable values to work in modern ways; demonstrating our pride and perpetuating our legacy by serving as a powerful voice for action, justice, and change throughout San Diego. Together, we are working to empower our members by training our volunteers with invaluable learning opportunities, ranging from leadership and organizational development training to community program instruction and nonprofit fundraising skills.

If you’re interested in joining our JLSD family, come meet us and learn more about JLSD at one of our New Member Information Sessions also known as a “Meet and Greet.” These are fantastic opportunities to explore what being part of our NEW MEMBER CLASS entails and helps connect applicants with our current Active members. During information sessions, you can discover how JLSD actively contributes towards the community, all while enjoying a blend of personal and professional development. Information sessions are to provide you with more information on JLSD, but are not a prerequisite to complete an application and join us.

Membership Criteria:

Any woman is invited to join who meets the following requirements:

You must be at least 21 years of age by the beginning of your New Member year to apply (there is no maximum age to join!)
You must reside within San Diego County no later than one week prior to the date of the New Member Kickoff (held in August)
You must exhibit an interest in the San Diego community and commit to the fulfillment of all requirements and attendance obligations of the New Member Training Program

When new members apply, they are invited to join a New Member Class their first year that provides them with the tools and information they’ll need to play a crucial role in Junior League of San Diego’s current five-year community goal of fighting food insecurity in San Diego County. All New Members complete a comprehensive training course designed to introduce you to JLSD, our members, our community partners, and the amazing projects we support. During this course, you will have the opportunity to develop your leadership as you participate in volunteer activities, community projects, trainings, and social events.

Please keep in mind that we accept Membership Applications until the incoming class reaches full capacity. If you are eager to join, we always recommend submitting your application sooner rather than later.

Application

If you are eager to join the Junior League of San Diego, we recommend beginning your application now. This Application link will first take you to our Interest form where you will enter your basic information.

After the submittal of the Interest form, you will receive an email to set up a Junior League login username and password. Once set up, you will complete a quick Application and be directed to pay New Member dues ($270). After payment, you will receive a confirmation welcoming you into the 2027 Spring New Member class!

New Member Training Program Overview

The Junior League of San Diego’s New Member Training Program will provide an introduction to our mission, development opportunities, trainings, focus area, community outreach projects, and fund development initiatives, as well as the structure and culture of JLSD and the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI). The training course begins with a New Member Training Orientation on January 23, 2027. Monthly Trainings will continue through May with various opportunities to socialize in between.

In June New Members who have completed all course requirements will become Active members of the Junior League of San Diego.

– January 23, 2027: New Member Orientation (Training #1)
– February 3, 2027: New Member Training #2
– March 4, 2027: New Member Training #3
– April 3, 2027: New Member Training #4
– May 6, 2027: New Member Training #5
